GENERAL / COMMUNITY
FAQ
Being that English is the most recognized language and there are some limitations with multi-language plugins, the main member site is in English only. There are forums in both languages as well. BUT, here are some suggestions to get the best use of the site.
- Don’t get frustrated by it. Once you play with it and connect your friends, you will find there is plenty of information in your mother tongue.
- Install the Google Translate extension which will allow for quick translation of web pages.
- Every video has English subtitles, you just have to turn them on in settings.
- Most of the individual blog articles have the EN/IT flag which will allow you to toggle between languages, or again the Google Translate extension will fix this.
- Currently admins only can create forums but we welcome feedback if you prefer to have a forum which is in your mother tongue.
You will notice that this platform resembles Facebook in many ways, but keep in mind that we do not have quite the same budget and income of Facebook so you will not have the exact same functionality. Here are some similarities and differences:
Similarities
You have a newsfeed, timeline and profile very similar to FB and can upload photos and albums with some limitations respective of FB. There are also private and public groups you can join which match your interests.
Differences
- Our favorite - no stealing data, no pop-up ads, and content that relates only to wine, food and culture.
- Free online courses in VinumVersity for everyone
- The ability to speak directly to experts, including winemakers and sommeliers
- Forums to start discussions, ask questions to peers and experts
We need your help with this part. Inside the site you will find My Connections, and then Invite Friends. We kindly ask that you invite as many people as possible who have one common passion - they love wine!
This is also a points based site and you will earn points for each friend that you invite who signs up! Points equal free stuff if you play along and contribute.
We also encourage you to connect with your favorite winemakers and any sommeliers you know from Rimessa Roscioli - like Alessandro, Lindsay, Paola and Michela.
VINUMVERSITY
FAQ
Yes! At the moment, all the content and courses we offer are FREE. In the future, we may offer more structured master courses available for a fee.
But, learning about wine without the wine is like learning piano without the piano. So, if you would like to taste the wines of each of the winemakers featured in our courses, you will want to join the Roscioli Wine Club.
Each quiz with a passing score of 75% in Everyone Can be a Sommelier will earn you 50 points and 70% in the Master Class will earn you 100 points. There are also other ways for you to earn points which you can see on our points page. You can check the Leaderboard to watch your progress and check it against others - don’t forget that our top scorer will receive a free year Wine Club subscription.
You only get one chance to earn points on a quiz but you can always go back and revisit your answers.
If you answered a question incorrectly but thought it was correct, we have designed a course specific forum specifically for these types of discussions.
WINEMAKERS
FAQ
Community.wine puts you at the heart of everything. Winemaker’s personal and territorial stories are the featured content on this site and in our online VinumVersity lessons.
Our platform connects you to thousands of wine enthusiasts, winemakers from around the world, restaurant owners, distributors, sommeliers and more. You will have the opportunity to learn from other colleagues, start discussions and reply in our forums, and be the protagonist of your wine.
Our platform is open to anyone to join.
You may notice that in our community we mainly offer small producers and this is for several reasons. First of all we believe that making wine in large quantities usually forces us to make technical and aesthetic choices that risk distorting the wine and its history. It is as if you were to prepare food for 20 people or 1000, it is not the same thing. In artisan production there is usually more attention and control and safeguarding of the territorial characteristics of the wine. We also try to offer wines that are not always easy to find on the market. That said, the community is open to anyone who wants to participate. Together with Dario Cappelloni and Paola Carlomosti, among other things, we will soon open a forum for discussion between small artisan producers and larger companies.
SOMMELIERS AND RESTAURATEURS
FAQ
After doing thousands of tastings and ordering countless wines at wine bars and restaurants, we realized that there can be a gap that makes the clients feel intimidated by the sommelier, especially when they start to use too many technical terms.
Our goal is to provide you with historical, cultural and territorial information which can be appreciated on a wider scale, and to bridge the gap between experts and novices to make wine be more approachable and communicable.
Restaurant owners are usually constricted to working with distributors for their wine selections, but our platform can also put you in connection with hundreds of other winemakers.
VinumVersity, our free online wine courses, is available for anyone to play. Your staff or sommeliers can play along and you can track their progress. Each video lesson gives them the opportunity to learn more about a region, a wine, winemaking techniques and various cultural and territorial issues facing winemakers in Italy and around the world.
Yes, we do all 3! We have partnered with many restaurants in the US to host tastings for groups of up to 85 persons.
Our Wine Tasting Dinner in Rome at Rimessa Roscioli, along with our more high-end tasting Taste the Legends, has become one of the most highly demanded wine tastings in the world. And after doing thousands of tastings from 59 euros to 1000 euros per person, we have learned the ways to speak to all levels of wine enthusiasts in a way which engages them all.

ROSCIOLI WINE CLUB
FAQ
Our wine club members are like our family!
- Wine Club members have a free tasting at Rimessa Roscioli when in Rome.
- We also organize visits to winemakers if you are visiting Italy.
- You will also have the ability to earn extra points with tasting note contests that we host.
- For Italians or anyone in Italy, we organize 1-2 trips around Italy to visit producers and you can join us.
- Also, we collaborate with many winemakers to do privately labeled bottles exclusively for our Wine Club and you can take part the winemaking decisions with us!
- Any local Romans can do our streaming courses at Rimessa in which we taste a winemaker’s wines, watch the video and have a discussion at Rimessa.
The biggest benefit to the Wine Club is that you will be able to connect territory, terroir and taste together, and learn to cultivate your palate with artisan wines with human passion and stories behind them instead of only tasting the more commercially available wines which are featured in formal wine schools and at supermarkets.
Imagine learning to play a piano but without the piano...it is the same as learning about wines without the wine itself. All the producers in our Wine Club are the producers featured in our online lessons, and gives you the ability to make the link between taste, territory, and techniques.
We also do tasting note contests for our Wine Club members to earn extra points. Our lucky winner each week will be featured in a post congratulating them and helping to prove that anyone can be a sommelier.
Yes, the Roscioli Wine Club offers free shipping to the EU and US (no Utah sorry, and there’s a supplement for Alaska and Hawaii). For other countries, please ask first.
Regarding Canada, the Roscioli Wine Club is not able to ship there but we are partnered with the Charlie’s Burgers Wine Program who makes excellent selections for their Wine Club in Canada and who has 1,500 happy members.
